Performance Assessment

A strong board, talented leadership and dependable employees are a sign of a healthy organization. But even the best authorities need a periodic checkup to ensure that they are doing all they can to be successful in an ever-changing environment. One of the best ways to make sure that you’re on the right track is with an authority self-assessment.

PMAA is dedicated to helping its members to be the best authorities they can be. The PMAA Organizational Development Committee (ODC) has developed a performance assessment program to help authorities become better organizations though continuous improvement. The cornerstone of this program is a self-assessment survey – to identify strengths and areas of improvement. The goal is for authorities to complete the self-assessment survey, identify weaknesses or gaps, and take actions to improve. Then take the self-assessment later to document improvement.

The benefits of participating in this program are:

  • Serves as an initial benchmark to aid in future development.ODC

  • Analysis: Your authority will receive detailed reports including charts and graphs that will identify areas of improvement.

  • Provides PMAA with a guide for developing educational programs to address the needs of the membership. These training opportunities will be in the form of webinars, special workshops and sessions during the annual conference.

  • Authorities will receive special recognition by the association to promote themselves with their governing bodies as well as the community.

The survey will be conducted in early February 2018 with the analytical results being provided to each participating authority in April/May 2018. Members of the Organizational Development Committee will be involved in the review process.

Your authority plays an essential role in the success of your community and we hope that you will see the value for your organization by enrolling in this new program. As you continue to work hard for your customers, PMAA will keep finding new ways to support, educate and represent you.
