On April 10, 2024, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) announced its long-awaited final rule establishing enforceable drinking water standards for certain PFAS under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act. The final rule establishes maximum contaminant levels (“MCLs”) for five separate PFAS, including PFOA and PFOS. Moreover, EPA has established a hazard index, which will regulate the mixtures of four additional PFAS. The rule also requires water systems to implement PFAS monitoring and comply with timelines for such monitoring, as well as providing a compliance deadline for achieving the MCLs. This webinar will explore EPA’s final rule, discuss differences from the proposed rule, and provide a framework for compliance.
