The first phase of Lead & Copper rule compliance ended in October, but a new phase quickly followed. EPA issued its final lead and copper rule on October 30th, which requires authorities to identify the unknown service lines in their system and implement a plan to replace all lead service lines within 10 years. It also requires more restrictive testing protocols. This presentation will provide clear guidance on the specific requirements and offer cost-effective strategies for compliance. Presenters will also discuss funding programs that authorities can use to defray the cost.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the key provisions of the LCRI and the current compliance requirements for water systems.

  • Identify critical regulatory deadlines and the associated documentation and actions required to meet compliance milestones.

  • Learn how to develop a service line replacement plan.

  • Understand the various federal and state funding programs available to support LCRI compliance and how to align project components with funding requirements.

Presenters:
Brooke Semanchik, Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc.
Staci Hartz, PE, Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc.
