Region 3 encompasses Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming counties. The current Director and Assistant Director’s terms are 2017 – 2020

John Berti is the Data Processing and IT Manager at the Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority wastewater treatment plant in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Personal interests include running, cycling, and music. John is a graduate of Misericordia University with a Bachelor's degree in Management of Information Technology and resides in Dallas, PA, with his wife, Kimberly.

This area has Pennsylvania's third largest concentration of covered bridges – nineteen! The largest vein of anthracite coal in the world is under the Lackawanna Valley and most of the coal is still there. Luzerne County houses the only museum in the world devoted solely to Houdini. It is known as the home of Gifford Pinchot (1865–1946) who was the first Chief of the United States Forest Service (1905–1910) and Pinchotthe Governor of Pennsylvania (1923–1927, 1931–1935). The oldest stone railroad bridge in use in Pennsylvania, the Starrucca Viaduct, crosses PA Route 171 north of Lanesboro. Wyoming County and is home to the Tunkhannock Creek Viaduct as well as Factoryville, birthplace of Pro Baseball Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson. The town of Noxen is known for being the host of an annual rattlesnake roundup! Centralia, PA has been on fire since 1962. The fire started as an accidental garbage fire that spread to the town's coal mine which has been burning underground ever since.
